Air routes from China to Danang suspended
Fourteen out of 15 chartered air routes from China to Vietnam’s central Danang city have been cancelled until the end of September 2014.
The cancellation was made due to a sharp reduction in the number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in the second quarter of this year.
According to a recent report from CBRE Vietnam, the number of Chinese visitors to Vietnam in June saw a strong decline of 29.5% from the previous month, and those to Danang city dropped 26.7%.
Despite the decrease, China took the lead in foreign arrivals to Danang, followed by the Republic of Korea, Japan, the US and Australia.
Meanwhile, many Asian airliners are increasing flights to the city. For instance, Korean Air has increased from 4 flights to 7 flights a week and a Kuala Lumpur – Danang route is resuming at the end of this month.
Vietnam Airlines also launched a new route on Narita – Danang with 4 flights/week as from July 16.
